Handmade stained glass inspired by the nature of the South Downs

about

Each piece is unique, just like the landscape that inspires it

I’m Caz, a stained glass artist based in Sussex. I take inspiration from the South Downs countryside around me, and create nature inspired stained glass from the wild flowers, birds and leaves spotted on walks with my dogs. I love capturing those small moments in nature through glass, creating handmade pieces that bring a glimpse of the outdoors inside.

Each piece begins with a pencil sketch, often inspired by the many photos I take during my walks. Choosing the right glass, considering texture, tone, and colour, takes time and care. I use traditional copper foiling techniques, carefully cutting, foiling, soldering, and finishing every piece by hand. It’s a slow, deliberate process that can’t be rushed, from the first sketch to the final polish.

My process

1. Sketch

2. Select glass

3. Cut and grind

4. Foiling

5. Soldering

6. Result

Seasonal pieces, released in small batches.

I run on a seasonal, slow-made rhythm. Every few months, I release a small drop of new works available online for a limited time. These pieces are numbered and often never repeated.
